Lifting F-split surfaces to characteristic zero

Abstract:

A folklore conjecture predicts that projective globally F-split varieties admit a lift to the ring of Witt vectors. In a joint work with Bernasconi, Kawakami and Witaszek, we proved that in dimension 2 something stronger holds: the lift can be chosen to be equi-singular. In this talk I will give an outline of this result and its proof as well as explain some of its applications to the study of singular surfaces in positive characteristic.
