Do The Math
Practice tables in arithmetic are provided so you can build a solid foundation for other mathematical concepts. As a calculator is not allowed in MATH courses at UC San Diego this will also help prepare you for classwork and exams. Proficiency in arithmetic will reduce errors that could easily be avoided and make advanced tasks less daunting.
Arithmetic is a fundamental branch of mathematics. Think of arithmetic as the basis for understanding more complex topics like algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus. It is significant as an essential skill for everyday life - such as personal finance, following a recipe, shopping, splitting restaurant bills, and problem solving. Arithmetic is a skill that truly empowers you to thrive.
